CLASSES
At Naturally Dance lessons are designed with a lot of thought and care so that the dancers may find connections and meaning to the movement they create within a class. Each term, an overarching theme guides the movement, songs, stories and creativity for that period. The lessons each week then follow the same sequence throughout a term so that children find a sense of ease; knowing what to expect each week and enjoying the predictability of the rhythm within each session. Finding a natural flow between movement activities allows for the class to run smoothly and enjoyably for all.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT
Creative movement is a class for children to explore moving. Using a variety of songs, stories, props and music, children are encouraged to use their bodies as creative vehicles to express themselves, learn new physical skills and develop their imagination. Unlike typical dance classes where children learn ‘steps’ or specific movement sequences involving technique for the dance style, creative movement classes often pose open ended stimuli and allow children to respond, create their own movement or imitate movement without any pressure to learn technique. This allows for the children to explore how their own body creates movement, how their imagination determines the intention behind how they move and puts the child at the centre of their own creativity.

BALLET
Ballet classes provide a gentle and encouraging space to learn ballet technique. Each class is creative, fun and relaxed, whilst following the traditional structure of a ballet class. Classes begin with barre work, before progressing to the centre, followed by allegro (jumps) and culminating in a dance or repertoire sequence. Although following the traditional progressions of ballet exercises, I try to be creative and flexible with the movement, adjusting to the children in each class and connecting dances with elements of storytelling.
Ballet is a wonderful way for children to improve co-ordination, musicality, flexibility and learn new skills. I feel that the best way for children to learn is in environments where they feel comfortable, encouraged and given the space to try new things.

CONTEMPORARY
Contemporary is such a diverse genre of dance with a variety of techniques taught throughout the world. The style of contemporary I teach has been heavily influenced by my own training and includes many elements of release technique. Working towards minimising tension in the body and focussing on the fluidity of movement, the contemporary classes include elements of balance/off-balance movement, contraction and release and spiral. Each class places a strong emphasis on floor work and creating an ease of movement both in and out of the floor.
Contemporary classes are available for students from grade 2 and up and are a wonderful compliment to the ballet classes offered.
